Gamble every day… OK, maybe not my best idea!
Last year was “Drink of the Day“… one drink (a different drink) every day for an entire year…not a problem. So this year I though I’d gamble everyday for the entire year. I had a plan, limit my daily best to the $1 to $20 range… stick to the limit and win or lose, walk away. The goal was to track each bet and the win/loss outcome on a spreadsheet and at the end of the year see how things panned out.
For the first couple months or so my plan worked. With small bets I wouldn’t win much but with small bets I couldn’t lose much either and after a month or so I was pretty much even… but betting small gets boring after a while. You start to think “If I bet more I can win more and that’s more exciting!” Well, long story short I found myself betting and losing more than I was comfortable with and after going down about $500 one night I thought maybe this in’t the best idea (I even stopped tracking my results on the spreadsheet ‘cuz I didn’t like the numbers I was seeing
) Going to Vegas for a vacation with a couple thousand bucks to play with is one thing but living in Las Vegas (like I do) and betting every day can get you in a hole real fast so I decided to fail this New Year’s resolution before it had a chance to get out of hand…
…next year, hmmmmmm…
…won again…
Won $110 today… Second day in a row of having a bit of luck on the slots ![]()
(I need to start taking photos again)
Got me a win!
When I started this little gambling experiment at the beginning of the year I though video poker would be my best chance for winning and slots to be the worst.. well, so far it has been the exact opposite… Won $110 playing slots today (and a few more dollars on craps) for a total of $108.60 today
Check out the spreadsheet for exact figures
Win a little, lose a little…
Broke even today… won a little playing craps and then lost those winnings playing video poker… unfortunately my luck from yesterday did’t carry over to today…
Movies and Video Poker
I love it when gambling pays for my night out; that’s one of the great things about living in Vegas! Went to the movies tonight (Saw John Carter, thought it was pretty good. I think the only reason it’s bombing at the box office is that the previews for it sucked. I had absolutely no interest in seeing the movie until I read some reviews.) and on my way out of the theater I stuck $5 in a video poker machine and after just a few hands I won $50 on four of a kind (four kings)… Movie was $15, drink $5, but walk out of the theater $30 ahead… can’t beat that!
No so crappy…
Not much but it’s a win… came out ahead $20.50 playing craps tonight (didn’t get a pic)
